History of the case.

Meredith Raney filed suit in Federal Court on 10/1/97 against Aware Woman Center for Choice, Inc. abortion clinic and its owners on three counts of violation of the Federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. Meredith Raney was threatened and removed (arrested) three times(1) while providing reproductive health services at a reproductive health services facility (Aware Woman) in violation of FACE. The removals (arrests) were made at the request of Aware Woman and its owners.

FACE is Chapter 18 Section 248 of the U.S. Code. CLICK HERE to read it. FACE was enacted by Congress to protect reproductive health service providers. Meredith Raney is a reproductive health service provider as defined by FACE and as such is protected by FACE.

RANEY GOES ON THE OFFENSE!

It seems like pro-lifers have always been on the defense. In this case, a pro-lifer is on the offense. Meredith Raney is the Plaintiff for a change. A victory in this case will go a long way in protecting the pro-life counselors who labor at abortion clinics to help women resolve their dire circumstances without a profit motive and without killing their unborn children. Please pray for a victory in this case.

1. Raney has been arrested at Aware Woman a total of 6 times. The first 3 times were before FACE. These first three arrests resulted in convictions that were appealed all the way to the U. S. Supreme Court. Cert. was denied. The last 3 arrests which are the subject of this lawsuit occurred after FACE and were all aquitted or dropped by the state courts.
