Another case against Melbourne pro-lifer dismissed

Press Release: For immediate release: Tuesday, December 21, 1999

MELBOURNE, FL -- A second federal case against Melbourne pro-lifer, Meredith Raney, has been dismissed for lack of prosecution. District Judge William Terrell Hodges ordered the case, Ocala Women's Center v. City of Ocala, dismissed for lack of prosecution on December 16, 1999. The plaintiffs alleged claims against Mr.Raney and others for alleged invasions of state and federal privacy rights, negligent infliction of emotional distress, interference with business and professional relationships, and civil conspiracy. The complaint also asserted multiple violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act ("FACE"), 18 U.S.C. §248, by Defendants Martin and Raney, et al. Mr. Raney testified in his affidavit that he had never even been to the Ocala Women's Center in Ocala.

A similar case against Mr. Raney and others, Aware Woman v. Raney was dismissed on September 1, 1999 also for lack of prosecution.

"I thank God that another of these cases is out of the way so that we can concentrate more effort on helping these moms who find themselves in a life situation that they perceive as desperate enough to pay someone to kill their own children," said Meredith Raney, Spokesman for Christians For Life.
