Unofficial Web Site Linking Friends and Former Members of MARANATHA MINISTRIES
Maranatha was a cutting-edge, charismatic campus ministry founded by Bob and Rose Weiner in 1973, which grew phenomenally in the late 1970s and 1980s. The churches planted around the world by Maranatha are having a lasting impact even today.
A youth-focused, revival-birthed move of God, Maranatha was a bright and shining light during this period planting over 100 campus and youth-related fellowships and churches throughout the world and preaching of the Lordship of Jesus Christ and His Dominion in the earth. Maranatha's vision was to plant a New Testament Church on every major university campus in the world.
Maranatha Ministries disbanded in 1989 for the purpose of decentralization and diversification of ministry through local churches. Today, roughly one-half of the original 500-plus staff members of Maranatha remain in some type of evangelistic or youth-oriented ministry in a full-time capacity.

Sithembiso Bhengu's testimony: I am the pastor of a church I planted in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa in 1999, when I returned from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I had been on a scholarship to Indonesia, but the Lord spoke to me and joined me to what was then Gereja Persekutuan Maranatha Indonesia (GPMI) in Yogyakarta under the leadership of Pastor Eriel Siregar. I was part of GPMI from May 1997 until July 1998, when my visa expired and I had to return to South Africa.
Upon my return, I retook a lecturing post at the University of Natal. In March 1999, I began reaching out to students and started a cell group. Maranatha Campus Ministry (MCM) grew from a cell group into a Sunday service in 1999. We continued to operate as Maranatha Campus Ministry until 2004. In 2005, our vision progressed as the Lord led us out of campus, into becoming a city church. In 2005, was married to my wife, Lieketseng.
The church is located in Scotsville, a surburb in the city of Pietermaritzburg. This is the capital city of the province of KwaZulu Natal. Thus this is a very significant city in broader scope of touching and reaching our province and nation for Jesus! Before we moved out of the University of KwaZulu Natal campus, we had changed the ministry from MCM to New Generation Harvest City Church.
We have a vision to win the city through reachin out to students, young professionals and young families, consolidating them into the local church, discipling them unto obedience to Christ and releasing and sending them to fulfil the great commission. In 2008, we began a ministry to reach International students, especialy students from the continent of Africa, so that we can win them, teach them and release them in teams to go back to their home countries and plant churches all over the continent of Africa! I am still in a close relationship with Pastor Siregar in Indonesia.

| NEW DVD! The Beast of Revelation: IDENTIFIED Who is the dreaded beast of Revelation? Now at last, a plausible candidate for this personification of evil incarnate has been identified (or re-identified). Ken Gentry's insightful analysis of scripture and history is likely to revolutionize your understanding of the book of Revelation -- and even more importantly -- amplify and energize your entire Christian worldview! Historical footage and other graphics are used to illustrate the lecture Dr. Gentry presented at the 1999 Ligonier Conference in Orlando, Florida. It is followed by a one-hour question and answer session addressing the key concerns and objections typically raised in response to his position. This presentation also features an introduction that touches on not only the confusion and controversy surrounding this issue -- but just why it may well be one of the most significant issues facing the Church today. Ideal for group meetings, personal Bible study -- for anyone who wants to understand the historical context of John's famous letter "... to the seven churches which are in Asia." (Revelation 1:4) |
