The Forerunner to begin in Soviet Union

It was good to talk with you and to hear first hand about the vision that you have to see a Forerunner-type newspaper established within the Soviet Union for Soviet students. This effort couldn’t be more on target as far as we’re concerned. We’re honored to be a significant part of your ministry, and will look forward to hearing how the effort in the Soviet Union is progressing.

Editor’s Note: At a special leadership conference held April 3-7 in Moscow, a staff of 30 Soviet students were organized who volunteered to work on a Russian language edition of The Forerunner. These students will distribute this newspaper beginning in the Fall on the campuses across the 11 time zones of the Soviet Union.

The main office of the Soviet Forerunner – “Predtecha: Good News for the Soviet Union” – will be located in Kiev, and correspondents, photographers, artists and writers will contribute to the newspaper from cities all over the Soviet Union. For special coverage of this conference and news about the Soviet Forerunner, turn to pages 12, 13 and 24.
