DID YOU KNOW … CHINESE CHARACTERS TELL MANY ACCOUNTS FROM GENESIS, THE FIRST BOOK IN THE BIBLE?
Genesis chapter three, for example, tells how sin entered the world when the devil secretly tempted man in the Garden of Eden. We can see this account retold in the character for devil, which is made up of the radicals for man, garden (or field), and secret (or private):
[show characters: man + garden + secret = devil]
If we add to this the characters for trees and cover, we have the character for tempter:
[show characters: devil + trees + cover = tempter]
The Bible says the devil waited for Eve in the forbidden tree, which was located in the middle of the garden next to the tree of life, hence the two trees. He was under cover because he was hidden and disguised as a serpent. The Bible also says that the devil is a tempter.
Were these characters brought together by mere coincidence or was God revealing Himself to the Chinese people thousands of years ago? The Bible says that God “has put eternity in their heart” (Ecclesiastes 3:11 NKJ).
